We often get asked by parties if they can connect directly to the MYOB AccountRight database. Questions often include comments enquiring if MYOB AccountRight runs a SQL Database or a C Tree Database or FoxPro or Azure SQL or other database types.
- I need to set up an ODBC connection
- We need to connect to Accountright Classic premier v19
- Can I connect to the v19 database
Historically (when MYOB products had version numbers such as v17, v18, v19) there was an ODBC option for connecting to the database. This was prone to issues as there were limited security and no business rules around the data insert and editing. Risky stuff.
Note: as of Sept 30 2018 MYOB no longer will issue any new ODBC licenses. As of Sept 30 2019 MYOB will no longer activate any ODBC keys. This is in line with the end of support of MYOB AccountRight v19.
MYOB AccountRight XXXX (where the XXXX is a year), now uses a REST API that allows the sharing of data in the JSON format. To learn more about the API head over to our developer portal.
To leverage the API you will need a developer who can write code to communicate over the API with the MYOB AccountRight data.
If developing an integration is not an option, it is possible to leverage on of the MYOB ecosystem add-ons, for example Accounting Add-ons who have developed an 'ODBC like' link to our API https://www.myob.com/au/addons/listing/132/odbclink/ that might offer some of what you need.
